Sad day for the world

Mon Sep 2, 2013, 3:36 PM

I have just found out that the worlds greatest animator and film maker, Hayao Miyazki is retiring. His last film is called  Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Raises) was played at the Venice Film Festival.  I know for sure that I will miss his wonderful works of masterpiece, and the world is exiting a golden age (in my opinion) of animated films. I don't know who will take the controls of Studio Ghibli but I hope they continue to give us amazing works like Spirited Away, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke & My Neighbor Totoro. I wish Miyazaki Sama a wonderful retirement and I will always cherish the joy, laughter, and tears he has brought us all. He has made us all think about things just a little harder, with films such as Princess Mononoke, Pom Poko and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. He made us cherish our childhood with movies like My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo. And he taught us to be brave with films like Whispers of the Heart, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and The Cat Returns. Each and every one of his films will forever hold a beloved spot in my heart as a cornerstone of my youth. And I'll never forget the first of his movies I ever saw.Kiki's Delivery Service (which I still have the VHS of. Yes it's that old) I will forever remember and love you Hayao Miyazaki.

Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro are the very first movies I ever saw from Studio Ghibli. With Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies, I had the opportunity to finally see them last year, and oh my Lord, so many tears those two films wrenched out of me :cries:

Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Castle in the Sky, Tales from Earthsea, and so many more will forever be cherished :iconloveitplz:

Oh that is disappointing.  I hope Ghibli can continue the legacy he started.  No one can be him again, but they can follow his example.  There are several of his movies that I still need to collect.
